It seems so long ago that I got into playing Mordheim. Having been playing both 40K and Fantasy for years it seemed only natural to try out some of the specialist (Abandoned) games that GW knocked out over the years.
A brief spate of epic -- a child's mind of...hmm I can get more men for less money didn't get very far when we realised a child's hand can paint one colour on a whole unit.
Anyway digressing slightly. Nowardays mordy is my groups most played game and we're even giving necromunda a crack.
Surprisingly much less decent rat puns than you'd think
My Skaven warband is the latest I've tried. They are much more powerful than I was expecting. My choice of opponent couldn't be worse however. Skaven with their poor leaderships do not fare well against fear causing opponents.
The Undead then are perhaps the worst of them all to be facing. I managed to do the job using spears and slings mostly. Who of course can forget the giant rat whose critical hit killed a vampire. Both the vampire and the rat were dead after the game as well so my opponent was not best pleased.
The Knights of the Scaly Boar
Probably the less said about these gentlemen the better. Running a witch hunter warband proxying a boar and a cold one as warhounds lent the tin cans their name. I cant help but miss names like Sir Tainley and Sir Jesser. Terrible I know.
Not sure about other Warhammer players but I have what one seller on ebay beautifully described as a lead mountain.
What I'm referring to is the heap of unpainted models waiting to be painted, growing at some points fairly rapidly.
A couple of months ago I bought 2000points of Bretonnians. Simply because I'd always wanted to.
While I'm coughing up unpleasant things while stuck in bed I figured I'll post some of the other purchases ive made recently.
My Estalian themed mercenary warband
My Necromunda gang to the left was one of those curious buys. Considering I'd been playing Mordheim so long.
Had a few hilarious games of not knowing what the hell we were doing now they're back on lead mountain awaiting a paint job
The scenery in the Necromunda pic is a plastic range by a company called Amera in the UK. They make great terrain and are relatively inexpensive. Check em out!
Just picked myself up a copy of warhammer ancients on ebay - can't wait to check out the rules and give it a bash. Thinking of running a celtic warband so we'll see how that pans out. I wonder if they've gone for realism or whether they've balanced the army lists.
Definitely found some inspirations travelling round the museums of South Kensington seeing a carving of British Celts repelling Caesars first invasion!
